Let’s help you feel prepared:

Starting therapy can often feel uncomfortable and unfamiliar.

One way we can support our nervous system as we move toward something new is to gather information in order to feel more prepared for what is to come:

Consultation

A consultation is a free 15 minute meeting (either in person or via telehealth) that allows us to connect so that you can ask me questions and assess if you would like to schedule a session.

Before your first session:

Once we have scheduled a session, I will send a link to your email with the necessary intake paperwork. Filling out all of the intake paperwork is a necessary step to complete before we can begin our work together. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions via email if you are in need of information or clarification about any of the paperwork or expectations for the first session.

I will also send you information about my exact address, specifics on parking (it’s free!), directions on how to find my office suite, and pictures to help you feel as prepared as possible (it can be hard to start something new).

During Your First Session:

The first session is an opportunity for you and I to connect and explore what brings you to therapy. Together, we will discuss the challenges you’re currently facing and the goals you hope to achieve through our work together. We will also talk about a tentative plan for therapy, including the frequency of sessions and which approaches might be most helpful for your needs. It's important to feel comfortable asking any questions or raising concerns during this session, as well as throughout the therapy process. You have choice in how much information is shared and at the pace that it is shared. Open, honest, safe communication is key to a successful therapeutic relationship.

We heal when we feel safe, so this is also a time for you to evaluate how you feel in space and to notice how you feel in proximity to me.
